Dear Wisdom,
Please help us to fully appreciate the Beatitudes of Jesus. The Sermon on the Mount was one of the first sermons in the ministry of Jesus. It is rich in content. Please expand on:
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Verse 3). Thank you!
Care to comment, Wisdom?
Answer
When someone was poor in Jesus time, the definition indicated they were without food. The person was hungry. They needed food to survive. Without a meal, chances of survival would become doubtful.
Blessed are the poor in spirit are those individuals who hunger for God. It is their main focus. The mind is always thinking about becoming full with the Most High. They are starving to be joined in the heart.
It is not just the mind, but the feelings of the heart. They are searching for substance that the soul desires.
*The people who hunger to be filled spiritually are not satisfied by the man’s hunger for possession, envy, fame or wealth. Instead they hunger for the greatest treasure of all.
When they discover that the possession is buried within their being, they realize the kingdom of heaven is within.
The search is over. One will now be full for the rest of this lifetime.
Thank you so much, Wisdom, with love.
You are welcome little mushroom.
Mushrooms are delicacies that are harvested, not from soil but the manure, that most think is disgusting, creates these sought after morsels.
*Many times it is the hardships of one’s life that becomes the material for soul growth.
* Problems are opportunities to grow deeper understanding into a facet of God. This is how one builds their kingdom of heaven within.
