How Long Will You Lie There, You Sluggard?

How Long Will You Lie There, You Sluggard?

Dear Wisdom,

Please help us to better grasp the full value of the book of Proverbs from the Old Testament.

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. How long will you lay there you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man. Proverbs 6:6

This passage seems to encourage hard work and discourage begging and government subsidies. Yet those entitlement payments are the basis of our country’s problems. How would Wisdom rule in our land?

Thank YOU!

Answer

Governments are a reflection of the people, at least the governments that are voted into power.

Also, the people in charge tell the masses what they want to hear.

Study history and notice the ones that wanted to build the country and its people to be thriving, and the people in charge are good representatives of this belief, versus those that just want power and the money to control their kingdom.

These people are dangerous, for the people’s minds are sedated with “bedtime” stories of not having to work but still enjoy the harvest.

When they finally wake-up, the cupboards are empty and there isn’t any seed to plant.

The wise man will be like the ant.

Motivate yourself.

Work with the philosophy of the Japanese with the practice of, “Kogen”, which means: every day a little improvement.

That weeds out the “get rich quick” schemes, or the “I’ll get around to it”.

Practice continuous improvement.

To make a quilt, one could start in the summer and work on one square at a time so by the wintertime, there is a blanket to keep them warm.

*It is the fool who believes someone else should make their blanket for free.

Both parties end up hating each other and feel victimized.

This philosophy has gone on since Cain and Abel.

Do your best.

Let the Lord deal with the sluggards.

Then, when one rests, the day has been valued and one can feel this sense of truly having worked alongside the Divine Lord.

Thank you so much, Wisdom, with joy.

You are welcome, our little pattern.

Before starting a quilt, a person selects a pattern.

Then material is cut to the pattern.

Without one, the pieces wouldn’t fit.

One has a choice of the pattern to make their quilt of life.

It can be simplistic or detailed.

Why allow someone else to choose your life pattern, because the result will not be an original.

Create your unique patterns with God. Only you will present it to God as a gift for having given you life.
