Dear Wisdom,
Please explain more of the cryptic phrases in the Tao Te Ching.
“The five colors blind the eye. The five tones deafen the ear. The five flavors dull the pallet. Racing, hunting, and galloping about only disturb the mind. Wasting energy to obtain rare objects only impedes one’s growth.”
(Verse 12)
What does it mean? How can colors blind the eye, or tones deafened the ear, or flavors dull the pallet? Seems like it should be just the opposite. Thank YOU!
Care to comment, Wisdom?
Answer
The five senses of the human body are ego driven.
They keep one grounded in the planets realm and societies illusions.
When one focuses the attention onto any aspect, be it visual, tonal, tactile or taste, any of the senses, information must be filtered out.
If all the data was absorbed, the human mind would be overwhelmed.
Individually, each filters out information according to their senses in the younger years.
What had left impressions to form the basis of the conscious and subconscious mind?
This information is the foundation when working with Reality.
People also search for physical aspects in order to appease the craving of a void within.
They believe something in the physical world will appease the longing for satisfaction and the sense of completeness.
*Nothing at the human level can ever fill in the void unless the search leads one inward.
The more busyness one tries to fill up the moments with, the further away the true treasure will be found.
“Seek and you will find” is not touting the need to run around searching through the human experiences in order to find appeasement.
First one trains the ego for sustainable enlightenment.
Ego will spend your life cycle trying to distract you from the authentic goal.
This is to connect with their Source, the Most High and realize the bond of one’s true heritage.
Human senses are surface level.
The spiritual senses are found within.
A person can apply these aspects to the physical realm.
They can be human emotions with a twist.
The heart is working from the base line or core of unconditional love.
*To have the feeling of thanksgiving or gratitude with no human strings attached.
To trust without conditions.
To be able to believe with no limitations.
This takes power beyond the physical world.
The Tao was alluding to the fact that the human venue can never find everlasting peace and joy.
One must search inward to master this truth.
*Search within to find the real everlasting joy that waits to be discovered.
Thank you so much, Wisdom, with joy.
You are welcome our little “ sleeping beauty”.
The Prince kissed the Princess awake.
Yes, their breath was not mint fresh but she woke from this spell placed by the wicked witch.
Are you living under spells from past “curses” that stop forward progress?
You can physically and spiritually be kissed awake.
Let love be the energy behind the action.
