Dear Wisdom,
Please help us to understand the words about pleasure in Kahlil Gibran’s masterpiece, THE PROPHET:
“Pleasure is a freedom song, but it is not freedom. It is the blossoming of your desires, but it is not their fruit. It is a depth calling unto a height, but it is not the deep, nor the high. It is the caged taking wing, but it is not space encompassed. Ay, in very truth, pleasure is a freedom song.
And your body is the harp of your soul, and it is yours to bring forth sweet music from it or confused sounds. And now you ask in your heart, “how shall we distinguish that which is good in pleasure from that which is not good?” Go to your field and your gardens, and you shall learn what it is the pleasure of the bee to gather honey of the flower, but it is also the pleasure of the flower to yield its honey to the bee. For to the bee a flower is a fountain of life, and to the flower a bee is a messenger of love, and to both, bee and flower, the giving and receiving of pleasure is a need and an ecstasy.” Page 71
Early religions, both Christian and Muslim, spent much time preaching against the evils of pleasure. What is pleasure? Are we built to need it? Please help us to bring more pleasure into our lives. Thank YOU!

Answer
Pleasure brings happiness.
It is fleeting.
It also creates a vacuum where more pleasure is craved.
These pleasures are from the physical world.
It is the senses that create the feeling of pleasure.
The human body houses the soul.
Bodies were created by the souls to explore God through the senses.
What the soul seeks is everlasting joy.
That is found from the connection with the energy of God.
The human senses can be the door that connects the human and the soul with awareness.
This is the only way to understand the human world and without that awareness, the soul is an illusion.
This is a hard concept to believe because the senses feel gravity and will bump into solid objects, feeling pain when cut.
The brain will not logically understand this concept.
This is when the human trusts in God.
It cannot be explained or scientifically proven in the 3rd dimension.
The ego uses doubt to veil the truth.
*A person sees a beautiful sunset and feels pleasure.
*Another person witnesses the same sunset and sees with the souls “eye” and feels the glory of God in expression.
*There is an attitude of gratitude with a sense of joy.
One sees the sunset with human happiness.
The other sees the sunset with the soul.
*Pleasure is the 3rd dimension.
*Joy is from feeling the connection with God.
Thank you so much, Wisdom, with love.
You are welcome our little “whale”.
Whales are huge but usually live on the smallest of organisms.
They are graceful as they move through the water.
They need to eat constantly in order to survive.
In order to watch with graceful movements, the body constantly makes movement to build strength.
It takes small bites continuously.
Keep the body moving. God can help you if you but trust.
