Spread a Net in Full View?

Dear Wisdom,

Please help us to fully grasp the value of the teachings in the book of Proverbs: 17

How useless to spread a net in full view of all the birds!

What does this unintelligible quote mean to us 4000 years after it was written?

Thank YOU!

Care to comment, Wisdom?

Answer

What this statement tried to illustrate for all was the concept of not boasting.

Birds are wise to man’s attempt to snare them.

They avoid anything that is out of normal.

Some people like to talk about goals but that is the extent of their effort.

People stop believing them.

If someone states plans of becoming fit and buy exercise equipment with the latest exercise outfits, that is a start.

They had big plans but friends and family have heard plans that are never fulfilled.

There are plans laid out but when it comes to the effort needed, the follow through never materializes.

It is good to have plans and for some people, sharing the vision with others is motivating.

Others just like to talk about the plans.

The favorite statement they make is, “I’ll get around to it”, or, “Next Monday, I’ll start.”

These people rarely accomplish the goal.

Before bragging of an accomplishment, put forth the work needed.

People will then sincerely praise you.

Thank you so much, Wisdom, with joy.

You are welcome, our little “dune”.

Sand dunes are found in the desert.

They change shape moving where the wind blows.

There is no resistance.

Be like a desert dune and allow God to move you.

Masterpieces can not be created when people are inflexible.

Let the Divine Lord move you to a greater position.

You know God will always follow through with master plans.

Work with God and see dreams come true.
