On holy Thursday, we recognize that Jesus washed the feet of His disciples: When he had finished washing their feet, He put on His clothes and returned to His place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” He asked them. “ You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. John 13:12
What was the purpose of this symbolic act? How can we enhance our lives with this teaching? Thank YOU!

Jesus was demonstrating love in action.
Don’t just talk about your faith, but live it.
He was showing the disciples the value of practicing what you preach.
Why expect others to believe in the value of a sermon if the messenger doesn’t even believe in the power of what is being said.
None of the disciples truly understood how powerful Jesus was.
People today have few role models living Jesus’ message.
The truth of loving without conditions has the ego to deal with, which job is to keep the attention focused on self.
Jesus was instructing not just the message of practice what you preach, but also that no one is above the need to control the ego.
He knew how strong the craving was to be approved and worshiped at the human level.
They had witnessed how Jesus had been revered through the market streets.
He was showing that being approved by man was not important or should influence your belief in putting God first.
He knew the lure of saving people’s lives.
Some of the disciples were already pompous because of their connection with Jesus.
*No one is above serving God, not even God’s son.

A bar of soap is used to clean an area that is dirty.
Just using water isn’t strong enough for spots on the soul.
One needs soap and some scrubbing.
Soap represents the Light.
One uses the Light of God to heal the lack of love with the soul.
The Light of God is ready to clean some issues for the soul.
Just use a little “elbow grease”.
